Good songs for a looper pedal?

Hello fellow gear heads.

Got a new looper pedal, an RC-2. I am trying to think of songs that would be fun to loop. They should have a short repetitive chords pattern, the verse and chorus should have the same changes, and be fun to jam on.

My first idea: Joe Cocker's Feeling Alright. I am using a latin drum pattern.

Any other ideas?

First looping song I think of is U2's "With or Without You".

And "Northern Lights" by Lux is nice on a looper too, if you're into that kind of music.

I found this cool vid of a guy covering Volcano by Damien Rice

I also have the RC-2. I like the "Auto" setting. I usually turn down the drum pattern and just loop my guitar.

Some reggae songs (hard to get the timing down, but a few tries should do it):

Sublime - Santeria (verse chords), Badfish (verse chords), What I Got (D G)

Bob Marley - Stir It Up (A D E), Jammin

Rock Songs:

Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter - E B A E

Dave Matthews - Watchtower (Am G F)

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Three Steps

Beatles - Let It Be

The RC-2 can provide endless enjoyment. Have fun.

Nice! Now we're talking.

How about the solo section from Sultan's of Swing?

19 Something-Mark Wills, record the octave intro, jump into the rhythm with the band
Waiting on the World to Change- Mayer, chords are repetitive, cool to play the solo over

a couple I like to jam to at home are
Neil Young: Cortez the Killer
Alice in Chains - Nutshell

set the 4 bars, and go to town.

It's is just that with the longer loops I have timing problems. I am new to loopers.

Of the loops that come pre-programmed in the pedal from the factory, I believe that the fast blues and funk loops are both in E, and the slow blues loop is in A. Minor Pent. scale works well with them.

+1 for Watchtower, speed it up and enter the Stairway solo. I also have Fly by Sugar Ray (Ab Db), just stop it for the chorus ( Eb Db), which is always a hit at a bar gig.

it might not quite fit the criteria set, but how about Keep Talking by Pink Floyd?

Where is my mind - pixies is a great one. I've also had a lot of fun with Rainbow in the dark by Dio

I use my looper pedal to jam to Any Colour You Like and Dani California a lot

a looper and a capo (assuming you have some transposition skills) is a killer combo.

free fallin-- i put the loop in with a capo on the first fret and play in E. then while the loop is playing... move the capo up to 5 and play in C.... and mix it up... i always drop out the loop for the last verse and slow down to mix it up, since it's the same 3 chords over and over again.

sunday morning- really fun song to loop and play over

crazy game of poker-- lots of fun

laid- the ultimate 3-chord special

mr. brightside- i play arpeggios with open chords... then loop the chorus while playing the actual part up on the neck in the 7th position

hungry heart-- works great

with or without you-- i actually keep a delay pedal before the looper... to play and edge-y part over the 4 chords
